From the drawing board of Rodolfo Bonetto in 1969, 4/4 represents the typical multi-functional product that can easily adapt to setting and use, in this way allowing continually new interpretations of the spaces in which we live. Curving lines, glossy plastic, notches/feet and easy dovetailing turn the four elements making it up into a round coffee table, a serpentine table, a modular bookcase or even a corner shelving.

Made in injection-moulded ABS plastic, 4/4 is a clever solution for the home, study or waiting rooms. For lovers of this kind of genre, it appears with Sean Connery in the 007 film “Diamonds are Forever”.

Rodolfo Bonetto

Milan, Italy

Born in Milan in 1929, Rodolfo Bonetto abandoned a successful career as a jazz drummer to devote himself to the profession of designer. He started up his own business in 1958 and in the years that followed worked in a large number of industrial fields ranging from the designing of tooling machines to clocks, lamps, ski boots, surgical lasers and motorcars. Being self-taught, he was so keenly oriented towards design praxis as to provide an important contribution to the teaching of industrial design at the Hochschule für Gestaltung in Ulm and later on at Isia in Rome. He was awarded eight gold compasses, the last of which was for his own professional career. He died in Milan in 1991.

B-Line

Padua, Italy

B—Line is a company, brainchild of its founder, Giorgio Bordin, that restores life to several historical icons of design on the Italian scenario. These are works that have disappeared over the years, made obsolete by the unrelenting ferment of a market that is brimming with innovation. Of the products re-edited, some have made history “contaminating” many facets of art and design, shaping their style and interpreting the mood of the fabulous Sixties and Seventies, to such an extent that the young entrepreneur Bordin could not possibly have allowed them to be forgotten.

B—Line’s path started therefore in 1999 with the recovery of the original moulds, re-proposing, and at times also revisiting in contemporary style, famous pieces like Joe Colombo’s much acclaimed Boby storage trolley, one that still nowadays is to be found exuding its everlasting appeal within the most varied spaces of our lives and times.

From the very beginning, side by side with its re-editions, B—Line places contemporary furnishing accessories, resulting from collaborations with international designers. Tangible, factual and transversal projects that have the responsibility and honour to co-exist with the great cornerstones of design and to encourage, in terms of style and character, a smooth switch from home environments to working spaces and from outdoors to indoors, areas that are increasingly hybrid and mercurial, as demanded by contemporary lifestyles.
