Serax
by Vincent Van Duysen
This piece is part of the AAVVGG Archive and not currently part of the collection.
Vincent Van Duysen is known for his ability to seamlessly translate sheer minimalism into comfort in his own unique way.
With a vision that results from an unbridled curiosity, Vincent Van Duysen always creates an all-inclusive atmosphere in which he seamlessly interweaves architecture, interior design, and design objects. A vision to which he also stayed true when he was commissioned to convert the monastery of the former military hospital in Antwerp into a hotel. For the terrace he designed the Outdoor collection, a series of minimalist chairs that effortlessly link the history of the environment to a modern interpretation.
“Furniture should never clamour for attention, it should become one with its surroundings, unnoticed. It is the users who add colour.” — Vincent Van Duysen
The Outdoor collection by Vincent Van Duysen for Serax is made of aluminium and it is available with a black or grey-green powder coating. This makes it suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. The chairs, lounge chair, and table articulate the sheer simplicity of the monastic life they wereinspired by. The wider, slightly lower proportions are of this day and age and contribute modern-day comfort.
The large and small side tables can be nested.
