Clear, no-nonsense lines and a sturdy steel frame. Faye Toogood has an eye for removing clutter, and her sculpted designs celebrate the rural past even as they partake of the urban contemporary and look towards the future. You can see this trademark fusion of traditional and contemporary in the way the sheer lines of the table top seem to float above the subtly rounded black steel or raw aluminium frames.
The Tubby Tube dining table, builds on the motifs of the same designer’s iconic Spade chair, with tubular legs that evoke the down-to-earth strength and practicality of garden implements. A distinctive and enduring artefact that would suit your dining room, or your meeting room.
The table top is not fixed to the base so it can be turned over, changed or moved - should the need arise. The legs are adjustable.
London, United Kingdom
Faye Toogood is a British designer with academic training in the theory and practice of fine art, and a vocational background at the forefront of the magazine industry.
Toogood’s objects are grouped together into her trademark numbered ‘Assemblages’. This allows her to avoid the standard and instead experiment with the materials and processes that dominate her thinking at a particular time. With each Assemblage, she engages not only with the products themselves, but also with the three-dimensional space in which they are exhibited.
All of her pieces are handmade by small-scale fabricators and traditional artisans, with an honesty to the rawness and irregularity of the chosen material.
Copenhagen, Denmark
Will this design in its entirety, become a long lasting object, we someday can pass on to our children?
This is a question PWtbS asks before launching each product. Based in Copenhagen and founded by renown interior photographer Thomas Ibsen, PWtbS' goal is to introduce designs that have the potential of becoming classics.
The collection has its own characteristics with a focus on interaction, good craftsmanship, quality, materials and sustainability in terms of durable design.
